Aloha,
As a registered dietian and certified diabetes educator, I implore you to pass this bill. I have so
many patients who have gastrointestional problems likely related to the contamination of our
environment with these herbicides. Even though the bill does not go far enough, it's a start.
Costco has stopped selling Roundup. Why would a big corporation like Costco do this? Each
one of you need to ask yourself this question. There are many successful lawsuits for health
claims against the manufacturers of these products. So even if council members are not
concerned about the health of the residents of this county,they need to be mindful of the
budget and what a lawsuit would do to our county coffers.
We cannot continue doing business as usual. We have a climate crisis and it behooves us to
start acting accordingly. It will take some creativity to manage weed growth but these
problems were managed before these products were available and they will be managed
again.
