He says the county is not qualified to determine which chemicals are dangerous. Is not a court of law authority enough?Monsanto has been found guilty more than once, both recently and in the past.(look into their falsification of safety data in a New York case many years ago) Local control of such things makes so much sense. We can be leaders in finding ways to maintain our parks and roads without harmful chemicals.Perhaps steam is the solution? Then we would not have to be in the position of deciding which of many harmful chemicals lo expose ourselves and our children to. Please remember that children are on the roads, standing and sitting in the chemical saturated dirt as they wait for their rides. The soup of diverse chemicals to which we are all exposed cannot help but have an impact on our health. What about the increases seen in people on the autism spectrum?Do we know chemicals are not part of that issue? No we do not know that. What about other chronic illnesses? And the poisoned roads are UGLY.We are a county that needs tourism.Could we not go a long way towards making ourselves more attractive here by not killing everything along our roads? The single greatest threat to my personal health is the Round-up to which I happen to be allergic, and which I encounter regularly while driving, due to the spray truck's presence everywhere. Completely aside from increasing my chances of getting cancer, this stuff gives me respiratory difficulty, lowers my immunity, and in direct contact, makes me come out in long lasting red spots.Once when I had weeded my father's gravesite a day after the county cemetery was sprayed,I had red spots all over my arms for a year.I am just one person. I am willing to bet a lot of other people are made ill from this stuff and don't even know it.Once I almost fainted from being in a room that had had its parking lot sprayed with round up for moss of all things.I did not find out until another day that it had actually been sprayed,so the stuff persists over time and still causes harm. County Council,we could be leaders in doing the right thing. Please do it.Other solutions will be found. Thank you, Jane Taylor Kamuela Hawaii 96743 artteachers@me.com - Comm. N 4$qI I Ref.
