By (7f/ To: Council Testimony Subject: Override Mayor Kim"s veto of bill 101 Date 12/b0 19.011 Date: Friday,December 27,2019 6:06:45 PM To all council members: I read Mayor Kim's reasons for vetoing Bill 101. He is misinformed. I'm an attorney. I have • been following this issue very closely for years;and I even co-produced an award winning film about it. You view the film on iTunes. Poisoning Paradise. Check out our website at www.poisoningparadise.coi!n. Despite Mayor Kim's purported belief that banning Roundup (glyphosate) from County land is pre-emoted by State and federal laws, he is absolutely wrong. The County has complete jurisdiction over what herbicides your purchase to control weeds on County owned lands. This doesn't even have to become a bill, It could simply be a administrative decision by the parks division to not use this carcinogenic herbicide on County parks where my grandchildren play ' soccer and run through the grassy fields. Maui County did it. So can you. Mayor Kim is either misinformed or he is standing behind Big Money. Whatever, he is wrong and you must override his veto, for the safety of our mo'opuna. Please, for the sake of our future generations, do the right thing and override the veto.
