Dear Chair Chung and Council Members:
In accordance with the County Charter Section 13-4, 1 submit Rod Quartararo of Council
District 7 for reappointment to the Police Commission.
The Council recently confirmed Mr. Quartararo on November 20, 2019 with an
expiration term of December 31, 2019. He is now eligible to serve a full 5-year term that
would expire on December 31, 2024. According to the report led by your Committee on
Public Safety, several committee members offered favorable comments about Mr.
Quartararo after hearing his original nomination.
As noted previously, Mr. Quartararo is a member of the Democratic Party.
Due to the needs of the Board, I respectfully ask that this nomination be waived through
Committee and placed on the full Council agenda of February 5, 2020. 1 further request
that Mr. Quartararo's appearance also be waived as he previously appeared before
Council on November 5, 2019.
Your continued favorable confirmation is requested. Please contact me if you have any

RE: Communiation No. 723 Renomination of Rod Quartararo to the Police
Commission.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Public Safety to the full Council for immediate action. In
reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is
granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event
this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the
Committee on Public Safety for placement on its future agenda.
