My name is Lo Keana'aina and I am a Native Hawaiian resident. I am writing this on behalf of Mayor Kim's veto of Bill 101. I was born in Hilo, and it would be a shame to have toxic herbicides on county parks and areas. Why do we need toxic chemicals? This is Hawaii, and we shouldn't be needing to spray all these toxins. There are a variety of alternatives, for example, using organic and natural concoctions to maintain unwanted plants. Or, you use tools like saws or shovels to get rid of these plants. Think of the children. Would you want your kids to be growing up where there are toxic chemicals where they play, or having to breathe in these fumes? I wouldn't want that, and another opposing reason is since all these chemicals are contributing to climate change! Local children and residents should be able to grow up in Hawaii, where its still Hawaii, not a place where you go spraying toxic chemicals everywhere! So please consider overriding Mayor Kim's veto of Bill 101, for the future of our land and our keiki. Mahalo nui loa. Comm. No Ref. To: PI t a 1 Ref. ate JAN - 8 2020
