Aloha. My name is Desmond Twigg-Smith. I am a life-long resident of the Big Island and a long-time Dona
resident.
I have know Mark Van Pernis for more than 25 years on a professional level as well as on a personal basis.
I can certainly vouch that he would keep this community's best interest formost regardless of what was being
proposed before the commission by whomever. His career experience as an attorney, which occasionally
required him to represent clients before the Planning Commission, unquestionably would make him a valuable
asset to now serve on it.
Mark is a serious person by nature and would take his appointment to the Hawaii Leeward Planning
Commission with integrity and sincerity.
