RESOLUTION NO. 491 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KAT
MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY FOR ITS 10TH ANNUAL KA`U PLANTATION DAYS
CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, Ka`u Multicultural Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose
mission is to educate, provide, perpetuate, and preserve the history of Ka`u through pictures,
stories, legends, language, arts and crafts, and genealogy of all ethnic groups; and
WHEREAS, Ka`u Multicultural Society and community partners will be celebrating its
10th Annual Ka`u Plantation Days on March 14, 2020, at Na`alehu Park; and
WHEREAS, Ka`u Plantation Days Celebration will be featuring musicians, hula, arts,
crafts, food, demonstrations, workshops, and a wide display of artifacts, stories, and pictures to
showcase and commemorate sugar plantations in Ka`u; and
WHEREAS, Ka`u Multicultural Society is requesting funds for advertising, permits,
posters, flyers, food, refreshments, and miscellaneous supplies for its 10th Annual Ka`u
Plantation Days Celebration; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports this event as it is in keeping
with its goals and objectives to promote a safe and health community; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Ka`u Multicultural Society for its 10th Annual Kali
Plantation Days Celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
