1 <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII ` ' ,--..._._:-...-_./ - <br /> STATE OF HAWAII <br /> _____,) <br /> '...•;:g•.-.,,-y-....:;,;,,,-- <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 49S 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO COMMUNITY FIRST <br /> INC. TO ASSIST WITH ITS INAUGURAL "KNOW YOUR NUMBERS" BLOOD <br /> PRESSURE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN. <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Barry <br /> Taniguchi, is dedicated to helping Hawai`i Island's people realize that healthcare is caring about <br /> health and not just treating disease; and <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is launching its inaugural "Know Your Numbers" <br /> blood pressure awareness campaign that aims to end high blood pressure in Hawai`i by educating <br /> our community about high blood pressure and hypertension, which are the leading causes of <br /> death in the United States and affects about one third of the adult population; and <br /> WHEREAS, Community First Inc. is seeking funds to assist with campaign marketing, <br /> media buys, printed collateral, incentives for participants, as well as educational and outreach <br /> activities such as free blood pressure screenings at worksites and community venues throughout <br /> East Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug- and alcohol-free <br /> programs that contribute to the health, safety, and welfare of Hawai`i Island community <br /> members; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Community First Inc. for expenses associated with its <br /> inaugural "Know Your Numbers" blood pressure awareness campaign. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
