STATE OF HAWAII \N._- ms-,4674'4..4'- RESOLUTION NO. 496 20 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE EAST HAWAII CULTURAL COUNCIL FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE 2ND ANNUAL LIVE ALOHA ART FESTIVAL. WHEREAS, the East Hawai`i Cultural Council ("EHCC") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization that provides an inclusive platform for the expression of art and cultural diversity of our Hawaii Island community through exhibits, performances, and education; and WHEREAS, the EHCC along with the New Alchemists hosted the 2nd annual Live Aloha Art Festival (LAAF), held January 10-12, 2020, which featured puppet making workshops, a peace parade, a 24-hour play festival and songwriters showcase, and a film festival; and WHEREAS, the New Alchemists is an artist collective building power and possibility for diverse communities through theatre, film, and music; and WHEREAS, the New Alchemists instigates exchange and collaboration between artists of different disciplines both on and off-island with the intention of providing support and opportunities to emerging and non-traditional artists; and WHEREAS, the EHCC is requesting reimbursement of expenses for this event associated with marketing, media buys, printed collateral, supplies, and securing the venue; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug- and alcohol-free programs that contribute to the health, safety, and welfare of Hawai`i Island community members; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the East Hawai`i Cultural Council for reimbursement of expenses associated with the 2nd Annual Live Aloha Art Festival. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
