L.- ----. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I `_� .'''=`�/ *- STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> . •.mow�.• <br /> . <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 497 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GOING HOME <br /> HAWAII TO ASSIST WITH ITS EAST HAWAII PU'UHONUA WELLNESS <br /> CENTER'S HOUSING PROGRAM FOR WOMEN. <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists <br /> Hawai`i Island justice-involved individuals with innovative and culturally responsive reentry and <br /> reintegration into community life in order to stop recurrences of crime recidivism; and <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i works in collaboration with more than 50 public and <br /> private entities to provide a suite of support services to former offenders, including housing, case <br /> management, and referrals for employment, education, training, and treatment programs for <br /> mental health and substance abuse; and <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i's East Hawai`i Pu'uhonua Wellness Center is a <br /> housing program that weaves in Native Hawaiian concepts of a place of peace, safety, and <br /> healing, and is currently working on securing a house for a women's reentry and recovery <br /> housing program; and <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i is requesting funds to defray housing costs, utilities, <br /> and supplies for its East Hawai`i Pu'uhonua Wellness Center's housing program for women; and <br /> WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i links participants to potential financial benefits and <br /> assists them in obtaining gainful employment to afford program fees on a monthly basis, which <br /> will ensure that the housing program remains self-sustainable beyond initial funding assistance; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports improving the criminal <br /> justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with other criminal <br /> justice agencies and the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Going Home Hawai`i for its East Hawai`i Pu'uhonua <br /> Wellness Center's reentry and recovery housing program for women. <br />
