Oppose Resolution 275-20
To: Council Testimony counciltestimony@hawaiicounty.gov
Dear Hawaii County Council,
Where I live, many keiki walk to school on the highway easement that gets sprayed. While they aren't
wallowing in it, it is never the less exposure to toxic chemistry.
We thank you for continuing the conversation about the dangers posed to our community by chronic
low level exposure to herbicides as sprayed by the County on our roads and parks.
However, the science is clear—we don't need to wait for more studies. Our vulnerable populations need
action now.
We need a bill written to protect the community from exposure to harmful chemicals—like glyphosate
and dicamba—that ultimately requires the County to control vegetation in public spaces using other
methods besides the application of these dangerous herbicides.
Now is the time to protect public health and the environment by getting herbicides out of the County's
parks and roads!
Mahalo!
Sincerely, 1"
