We'd have a ban on herbicide spraying of County lands already in place if you had upheld your original passage of Bill 101&chosen to override Mayor Kim's subsequent veto. I believe Hawai'i Island has far more to gain from promotion of nature-friendly eco-tourism & non-toxic agriculture than land maintenance with poisons. People are increasingly seeking to avoid exposure to many chemicals in an effort to protect their health & it would be nice to see our County help lead the way in such endeavors. This Resolution would be meaningless,as Bill 101 amply addressed the issue&can just be re-worked to focus more effectively on the truly pro-active measures needed to guard the health of our island's residents &visitors alike. Mahalo to those of you who voted to keep Bill 101 alive- it was nice to see the spirit of malama being heeded.Again, I ask that you please OPPOSE Resolution 475-20-we need real solutions to our situation.
