Cleaning and Reopening of Hakalau and Kolekole

Aloha,
I'm reaching out to support reopening Hakalau and Kolekole parks. These areas have been closed
for the past 3 years and it's shocking that this project hasn't been completed. Growing up, I would
go to these areas with my friends and family, and would appreciate it if I could continue this
tradition. I understand that making these areas safe for the public are a priority and preventing
access is crucial to public health and safety, however taking over 3 years to complete this project
is ridiculous. These two locations are very important to the multiple generations of my family as
we have resided on the east coast of the Big Island for the past 100 years. Please know that for
people who live on this side of the island, having access to these areas is essential to building
coininunity.
Hopefully this update accurately reflects the timeline of the reopening and considers the
taxpayers' dollars that have already been spent thus far.
