Attention: Council Chair and Members
Please prioritize the cleaning and reopening of Kolekoke Beach Park and Hakalau Beach Park.
Allowing the lead-contaminated soil to remain extends the environmental impact of these
locations on the land, water, and ocean resources of our island and on the health of our people
and wildlife. The closure of these locations limits availability of important social gathering
spaces for families and communities as well as diminishing the available tourist destinations on
the east side of the island. Please do what is best for the island and its people, and commit the
necessary funds to make restoring these spaces a priority.
