Kolekole and Hakalau parks Date

Dear Council Chair,
I live in Puna. My friends and family have had many wonderful memories at Kolekole and Hakalau over
the years. I was disappointed when Hakalau was closed for repairs,and still made the hike down several
times through the fire ant trail to enjoy the ocean. It seems like it's been over a year since that park has
closed. I have been frustrated to find Kolekole closed in recent months as well.
These Parks are natural treasures along this coast and people deserve to be able to access them for
family and community gatherings, recreation,and an opportunity to be at peace in nature. Many elders
and disabled persons do not have the opportunity to trek down as I have done and also deserve access.
One of my friends told me that there was an opportunity to write testimony in an effort to re-open the
pa rks.
I hope these words can improve the chances to complete the work which will allow th3e parks to re-
open
