SECT1011 1. Section 7223 of , the, Revised Law' s of Hawaii 194 is
hereby 'amended by amending the first paragraph thereof to read as

commission, one of whom shall be designated by the appointing power

political party. Each member shall be a citizen othe United States,
shall have res 'ded in the county for which appoir.ted for at least',
three years , and in case of the county of Hawaii commission' , shall have
been duly registered as a voter in that county at the next preceding
election. The commission for the city and county of ljonolulu' and for
the county of Hawaii shall consist of five members , appointed , one for
a term to expire on December 31 , 1937, one for a tern, to expl-re on
Dece-m*er 31 , 1938 , one for a term to expire on December 31 , 1939 , ,- one
for a term to expire on December 31 , 1940, and one for a ter" to exam

1941; thereafter every appointment shall be made
for a term of.. threeyears , commencing from the date of the expiration
of the last preceding term. The commissions for the other counties
shall consist of three members , appointed ' one for a terra to expire

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon January 1 , 1946.
