WHEREAS, Recycle Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to
minimize waste and promote recycling and resource awareness through education, programs, and
services on Hawaii Island; and
WHEREAS, Recycle Hawaii will be conducting comprehensive community meetings to
solicit feedback and creative solutions related to current changes in Hawaii County recycling
programs; and
WHEREAS, Recycle Hawaii has requested funds for these community meetings to help
pay for ground transportation, video recording, transcription, supplies, and refreshments; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public
and youth programs through education and activities which promote a drug- and alcohol -free
environment; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Recycle Hawaii for expenses related to its community
outreach initiative.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
