RESOLUTION NO. 512 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HUI ALOHA '0 PUNA
MAKAI TO SUPPORT ITS SUMMER WORKSHOP AND YOUTH ACTIVITY SERIES.
WHEREAS, Hui Aloha '0 Puna Makai is a 501(c)(3) local nonprofit that strives to
promote the well-being of the community through its educational programs that introduce the
public to traditional Hawaiian cultural practices in the areas of language, food, crafts, and youth
activities; and
WHEREAS, Hui Aloha '0 Puna Makai is hosting a Summer Workshop and Youth
Activity Series to provide Native Hawaiian cultural presentations and workshops throughout the
Puna-makai community that are free and open to the public; and
WHEREAS, Hui Aloha '0 Puna Makai is requesting funds to assist with expenses, such
as guest speakers, advertising, insurance, materials, lunches, and other miscellaneous items; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports cultural and educational
programs, activities, and events that are drug-free, alcohol-free, and improve the quality of life
for Hawai`i Island residents; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hui Aloha '0 Puna Makai for expenses associated with its
Summer Workshop and Youth Activity Series.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
