RESOLUTION NO. 518 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE EAST HAWAII
CULTURAL COUNCIL FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES ASSOCIATED
WITH THE 2020 LIVE ALOHA FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, the East Hawai`i Cultural Council ("EHCC") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
community organization that is dedicated to providing a cultural and educational venue for the
greater community; and
WHEREAS, the EHCC encourages and supports expression of cultural diversity defined
through exhibition, performance, workshops, and creative inquiry; and
WHEREAS, the 2020 Live Aloha Festival, held January 6-12, 2020, featured an
innovative venue designed to feature live music, theater, film, puppets, visual arts, and
conversations about community and art; and
WHEREAS, the EHCC is requesting reimbursement for expenses relating to the
development, production, and implementation of the 2020 Live Aloha Festival, including but not
limited to supplies, printing, refreshments, and other items necessary for the project; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports events and activities that
celebrate and commemorate significant cultural contributions in a clean and safe environment;
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the East Hawai`i Cultural Council for reimbursement
of expenses associated with the 2020 Live Aloha Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Council hereby transfers/appropriates
the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
