Aloha Council Members,My Name is Teresa Nakama and I am representing BIWRAD in support of
resolution `la:" .. z C
The Big Island Wave Rider Against Drug is the single organization in West Hawaii positioned to
contribute to efforts that advance the community volunteer participation as it develops its goal to
eventually include the entire near shore waters of Hawaii Island.
The future for this organization is to encompass new resources, collect data and to reach out to experts
that are willing to shared knowledge to better improve our communities. Their participation to continue
this volunteer program to partner with our Hawaii County Government Parks and Recreation Department.
The program goal of BIWRAD is to enhance awareness throught best practices,which includes the
community involvement through the yearly beach clean-up event.
BIWAD is reaching out through various Grant Programs such as the County Grant in Aid Program and
various donations in our business communities.
BIWAD is also a clearinghouse for information and is dedicated to participating in the research initiatives
to benefit the traditional cultural communities at large and we are willing to provide access to the most
up-to-date and relevant information to assist the public to make the case for the 3R' s Reduce/Reuse/Re-
Cylcle as we seek funding to further the education of our childrens participation.
