Y 06 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 529 20 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE EXPLORATION <br />FOUNDATION TO SUPPORT THE WEST HAWAIJ EXPLORATIONS ACADEMY'S <br />ROBOTICS TEAM. <br />WHEREAS, the Exploration Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br />mission is to promote educational innovation through outreach, technical assistance, and <br />advocacy for the West Hawaii Explorations Academy (WHEA), a public charter school that <br />focuses on the advancement of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through <br />hands-on, project -based learning; and <br />WHEREAS, WHEA's robotic team, Sharkbots, inspires students to learn skills such as <br />metalworking, programming, soldering and wiring, computer-aided design and 3D printing, <br />grant writing, and budgeting; and <br />WHEREAS, the Exploration Foundation is requesting funds to assist with entry fees for <br />the team to compete in the San Diego Regional robotics tournament from March 11 through <br />14,2020;and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth <br />programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol -free environment; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Exploration Foundation to support WHEA's robotics <br />team. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
