Re: Resolution Creating a Position
The County of Hawaii, Department of Human Resources was provided with funding for
salary and wages and fringe benefits for a new Clerk III position through Ordinance No.
19-73, the FY 2019-20 Operating Budget for the County of Hawaii.
Enclosed is a resolution creating one new position for the Hawaii County Department of
Human Resources. This new position is needed to support the department's increased
workload.

A. REQUEST:
A resolution to create one new permanent Clerk III position in the Department of Human
Resources.
FY 2019-2020 Operating Budget was amended and approved for:
1) Funding for salary and fringe benefits for a new Clerk III, SR-10 position

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Human Resources Department has had an increase in workload without an increase in staffing. As
departments increase their operations, those actions incerase the work flow through the Department of
Human Resources. Division Heads have taken on many of the clerical duties. We are requesting a Clerk III
position to provide clerical support to our divisions, which will allow our Division Heads to focus on higher
level projects and assignments.The additional clerical support will increase the efficiency of our operations
and service to the departments and public.
