Re: Resolution Creating a Position
The County of Hawaii, Office of the Prosecuting Attorney was provided with funding
for salary and wages and fringe benefits for one new temporary Legal Clerk II position
through Ordinance No. 19-73,the FY 2019-20 Operating Budget for the County of
Hawaii.
Enclosed is a resolution creating one new position for the Hawaii County Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney. This new position is needed to support the department's East
Hawaii District Court Clerical Unit.

A. REQUEST:
A resolution to create one (1) new temporary position in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
This position will be a Legal Clerk II, assigned to East Hawaii District Court Clerical Unit,
FY 2019 - 2020 Operating Budget was approved with the following amendment:
1) Fund salary and fringe benefits for a new Legal Clerk II position

Legal Clerk II (SR-12, BU03)
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED
Position will provide additional support for existing East Hawaii District Court Clerical Unit. Clerical staff are
already working at maximum levels and feeling overwhelmed. Overtime is at a high and has become a norm
for Clerical staff.
