BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The donation of the tourniquets will be used for the training of Police Recruits and Sworn Personnel. The donated tourniquets will also be issued to Police Officers after the completion of the Active Shooter/Tactical Medical training. Tourniquets have been proven to save the lives of victims and officers in active shooter or emergency situations. The Police Department has adopted the ALERRT AIRR active shooter training, which is a coordinated response with Fire and Medical personnel to quickly stop an active shooter situation and save the lives of the victims. During this training Officers will be provided extensive training in the use and application of the tourniquet and other live saving measures.
