CP•Lam- 4ii <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> T,T{OF•NF'�h <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 4 <br /> 6 20 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAII <br /> VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION, INC., <br /> TO CONSTRUCT A KOREAN WAR MEMORIAL. <br /> WHEREAS, the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion <br /> Association, Inc., (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization consisting of veteran <br /> organizations, individual veterans, and citizens that have organized and facilitated innumerable <br /> projects at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery-Pu`u Ho`omaha O Na Po`e Koa O Hawaii <br /> Komohana (WHVC) in honor of our veterans; and <br /> WHEREAS, WHVC is one of three state-owned veterans' cemeteries in the nation that <br /> has received the honor of a"Shrine Status" designation by the Veterans Administration(VA); <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, WHVCDEA will be constructing a Korean War Memorial at WHVC to <br /> respect and honor Korean War veterans and their families; and <br /> WHEREAS, the plans for construction of a Korean War Memorial at WHVC have been <br /> approved by the Hawaii State Office of Veterans' Services and the Hawaii State Department of <br /> Defense; and <br /> WHEREAS, WHVCDEA is requesting funds for expenses related to bronze casting, <br /> stone foundation, and a plaque for the Korean War Memorial at WHVC; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is in partnership with WHVCDEA <br /> and supports its efforts to maintain and improve WHVC; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery Development <br /> and Expansion Association, Inc., to assist with expenses related to constructing a Korean War <br /> Memorial at WHVC. <br />
