RESOLUTION NO. 569 20..
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO LA`I`OPUA 2020 FOR
EXPENSES TO PROVIDE FREE MEALS IN KONA DURING THE COVID-19
PANDEMIC.
WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes unity
by establishing social, educational, recreational, medical, and cultural services,programs, and
infrastructure that assist the residents of Hawai`i County; and
WHEREAS,the COVID-19 pandemic is causing severe hardship on families in Kona,
including the ability for able bodied adults to provide meals for children and kupuna; and
WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 will be preparing and delivering free meals in the Kona
area; and
WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 is requesting funds to assist with food and supplies
associated with the preparation and delivery of the free meals; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that
promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community through alcohol-, tobacco-, and drug-
free activities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to La`i`Opua 2020 for expenses to provide free meals in Kona
during the COVID-19 pandemic.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
