RESOLUTION NO. 578 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF
KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC., FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS
EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH EFFORTS.
WHEREAS,the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service projects and
activities that seek to improve the Kona community through humanitarian efforts; and
WHEREAS, the Konawaena High School Leo Club is the youth branch of the Lions
Club of Kona; and
WHEREAS, Since August 2019 the Leo Club developed a partnership with the Kona
Soil and Water Conservation District(SWCD) to assist with community outreach; and
WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., has requested
assistance with expenses related to creating posters summarizing the SWCD's main causes and
concerns,plan presentations, and mass mailing to farmers, businesses, and organizations; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to
support sustainable agricultural practices by promoting educational opportunities designed to
build skills and capacity in the farm community; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation
Inc., for expenses relating to its educational outreach efforts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
