RESOLUTION NO. 579 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF
KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC., FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS
EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH EFFORTS.
WHEREAS,the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., (LCKCFI) is a
501(c)(3)nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service
projects and activities that meet the needs of the community; and
WHEREAS, the LCKCFI is partnering with Kona Soil and Water Conservation District
(KSWCD) and the Konawaena High School LEO Club to conduct a community outreach effort
to inform the community on the fragility of our Kona landscape and what the public needs to do
to protect our land for future generations ; and
WHEREAS, the LCKCFI is requesting fundslor expenses to develop educational
materials, resource booklets,posters, and mailing packets to address land degradation and soil
depletion in the West Hawai`i district; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Research and Development strives to increase
communication, interaction, and understanding between residents and the agricultural industry to
ensure the integrity of Hawai`i unique sense of place; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Research and Development to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation
Inc., to assist with expenses for its educational outreach efforts.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Research and Development and Director of Finance, and that the
Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the
terms of this resolution.
