I'm 42 years old and I'm a lifelong resident of Kona. I'm submitting this testimony, in hopes the Mayor will take appropriate action in combating COVID19. I feel that it is extremely irresponsible and disrespectful to our community that he has chosen to allow restaurants and bars to stay open. I read an article in "Big Island News Now" quoting Mayor Kim, after he's been strongly advised that if he chooses not to follow the Governors advice and shut down social gatherings, the out come could be catastrophic. Mayor Kim says"we might choose a different option because of the necessity of food and feeding tourists"!?! Are you kidding me!!! What's wrong with tourist eating take out?!!! Is it really worth risking restaurant employees spreading this virus to their parents and grandparents?!The incubation period can be up to 14 days! In my opinion, in these unprecedented times, all recreational tourism should be completed banned from our entire island! This isn't a joke.We need to learn from the rest of the planet! Look at New York and California right now! It's obviously inevitable that we're going to have to close restaurants and bars in the near future anyway. Why not try and get ahead of the game? The sooner we do it the sooner we will be able to recover financially, physically and spiritually. We have a fire to put out. If we don't put it out now, It's going to get ugly.We all know our hospitals and hospital staff are underfunded and overwhelmed. This isn't fair to them and their families. This isn't fair to our community. Please Mayor Kim. Do the right thing or the blood will be on your hands. Mahalo for your time, Phil Bruneau Comm. No: . (b0:1) Ref. To: 13ICbUfc11 Ref. Date MAR 2 0 2O2O
