To: Council Testimony
Please save hawaii. Right now, our local government is putting us at great risk. Hawaii is still
allowing tourists in. Many businesses like ourselves are shut down to stop the spread of the
corona virus, but our efforts will be useless if tourists continue to be allowed to freely enter the
state. It sends mixed messages and is confusing for businesses that support tourism. Many of
us are willing to take the hit financially to do the right thing and shut down but feel discouraged
because the state is not supporting us or the community. Does the state want us to stay open
or close? The state needs to lead so we can follow. What is happening right now makes no
sense. The state can give us safety by closing our islands. Our children might be able to go to
school in a few weeks and many lives could be spared.
Please do the right thing and lead us with integrity and value our safety.
