Corona Virus Testimony for County Council Meeting Date MAR f 9 2020
To: Council Testimony
Aloha,
I am a Big Island resident from Paauilo, and I am submitting testimony because I am extremely
worried about CoVid-19. First, I do not think we're doing enough to prevent the spread of
CoVidl9 in Hawaii. Because we are an island state, we have a unique opportunity to isolate and
protect ourselves -but that is not happening. Tourists are still pouring in from all over,bringing
the virus in. How many Hawaii residents are going to die because of this?
We need widespread testing immediately,not just for people who are seriously ill.
I have heard good recommendations from Lt. Gov Josh Green and house speaker Scott Saiki.
Please heed their advice, and implement their ideas immediately.
I support:
• Quarantining all travelers to Hawaii for at least 14 days
• Banning all non essential travel to Hawaii, and all non essential inter island travel.
• Closing all schools, restaurants &bars
• The 15 day statewide shutdown, as proposed by speaker Scott Saiki.
Please act quickly and aggressively to stop the coronavirus here in Hawaii.
