I do understand the hesitation, to not want to disrupt our economy. But I think that ship has sailed, and I don't think we should put capitalism above health. Also, Bug Busters is not going to cut it! We just truly don't even have the resources to face this beast, and we should be proactively trying to avoid the spread of this virus with measures similar to mainland municipalities. I'm sorry, Harry Kim, but I immediately think back to the 2018 eruption and how you completely cut off Puna from any opportunity to economically benefit from the eruption. It was so infuriating to live through that and then to experience a devastating loss in the end. We would have been okay to let the tourists and other residents see the lava that ultimately took out our neighborhoods. We could have economically benefitted from the increased traffic for a while. Why you are not looking at a pandemic the way you treated the eruption two years ago is so beyond me. It seems so sideways to me. This is the time when you want to implement all those stringent policies and restrictions that you implemented two years ago, when lava was moving down the mountain. Please do not jeopardize our health, because you think you know better than everyone else telling , you to put up the closed sign on Hawaii County and urge all of us to stay home! We need to shelter in place; some of us are doing it voluntarily. But the reality is that people are going to have to be told to, for the public good. I feel badly for coming out so strongly against your position, Harry, because you are my friend. But you're wrong on this one, and it really is a matter of life or death this time. Please reconsider your position. To the Hawaii County Council, so hope you can do whatever is in your power to protect the interests of us residents, and particularly our health and safety. We need to be more proactive than reactive. Mahalo. Sincerely, Tiffany Edwards Hunt \m/\m/ aloha Comm. No. IA9)11 Ref.To: MOW Ref. Dote MAR 2 0 2020
