I implore the Council and Mayor to require through what ever means available, a directive for all people
in Hawai'i County to Stay Healthy At Home.
Only medical personnel,government officials,family traveling to support residents, and residents
returning to the Island should be allowed to arrive on the Island. Non residents who are not supporting
Stay Healthy At Home should not be allowed to arrive on the Island.
Some arrangement should be made so that the homeless have a place to use the bathroom. However to
relieve the County of responsibility for sanitizing playgrounds and bathrooms,they should be closed.
This would prevent County employees from exposure to the virus while sanitizing and allow them to
Stay Healthy At Home with their families.
Access to the County parks and beaches should be allowed to continue with the stipulation that no life
guard or emergency services will be provided, no shower provided, remove your own trash, maintain
healthy distance from people outside your household.This will allow people to access healthy activity.
Clearly,such a directive will have economic impact. But, if the majority of people on island are directed
to Stay Healthy At Home,we can lock down the spread of the virus with aloha,and the duration of the
economic impact will be shortened.
Attached is a rough illustration of projected economic impact and number of people infected with •
coronavirus if we continue with current measures and if we implement a Stay Healthy At Home plan.
Without a Stay Healthy At Home implementation NOW,we risk losing the workforce that will help our
economy recover,we risk losing people who hold knowledge we need to thrive,we risk overwhelming
our resources, and we risk having to live with social distancing forever because we will have let the virus
go wild in our human population. No more hugs. no more expressions of aloha we all cherish.
