Aloha County Council members,
As a long-time resident of the Hamakua Coast I am submitting testimony to ask that
Mayor Kim be ordered to follow our Governor's lead and close our airports to all non-
essential travel, ask county employees to work from home when possible, close state
and county parks and require restaurants to serve to go or delivery only.
Our island stands in a good position to manage our situation if we act sooner than
later. Our medical system on Hawaii Island is woefully under prepared-to handle a
large number of folks needing ventilators and medical assistance in general.
Every traveler that arrives brings more risk. If we take precautions now we can be
better able to bounce back economically when this virus is over.
