I know that this will cause a significant amount of economic hardship to our County. However, our community already has a medical system insufficient to meet our normal health care needs. All the data shows that if drastic action to suppress the spread of COVID-19 will result in a health care system that is overwhelmed. Our doctors and hospitals will very quickly have to make hard decisions about who does and does not receive treatment. They will have to make decisions about who lives and who dies. I worry that if our County does not take immediate and clear action, many in our local community will suffer unnecessarily and the death toll in our community will be significant. Now is the time for leadership and I ask the County Council to be a strong and united voice in minimizing the health impacts of COVID-19 on our community.
