Aloha,
I am a resident of Hawi. I write to express my concern about measures to deal with Covid-
19/Coronavirus.
Protecting our community, our `ohana,and above all, our kupuna,needs to be foremost in all our minds.
There will be an impact to tourism no matter what happens. A STRONG response—mandatory
quarantine upon arrival, self-isolation/lockdown for everyone—is the ONLY way to make sure we
recover quickly. Any attempt to mitigate the economic impact is certain to backfire by overloading our
limited hospital resources, and will only prolong the recovery time.
Please do not make the mistakes that Italy and other countries have made. Act now. Act
decisively.
