Covid-19: Mandatory Closure Date MAR 2 0 2020
To: Council Testimony
Aloha,
I urge you,the County Council to place a mandatory closure for the Island of Hawai'i.As members of the
community, aren't you afraid of contracting COVID-19 or even your'ohana??At Hilo Medical Center
there are only 11 ICU beds. How big your, family? They won't be able to provide care to all of your family
members. We are already limited to supplies and resources because we live on this beautiful island.
Why not protect it and the ones we love. I am asking you shutdown the airports, mandate all tourists to
leave our island, and enforce quarantine to stop the spread before it goes beyond what we can control.
Many tourists think is the prime time to come to Hawai'i because the flights and accommodations are
dirt cheap. Why are the airlines companies even advertising cheap flights??
Please help me protect myself, and the ones I love;especially the kupuna and keiki of this island.
As a nurse, many of my colleagues are considering quitting our jobs because of the fact we don't have
the proper PPE and are not willing to risk bringing COVID-19 home to our families. It would make sense
to provide hospital employees scrubs to use at work to contain the germs just to the building. Rather
than bringing it out into the community after our long shift. Can you enforce that also??
Mahalo,
Sheena Punsalan
Extremely Concerned Nurse
