Covid-19 Testimony Date MAR 2 n 2020
To: Council Testimony
For the last 2 weeks my partner and I have been sick with something that sure seems like a mild case of
covid-19.Although we would like to be tested we have no,insurance and don't meet the criteria for
testing currently in place. If our county has changed the criteria and anyone can get tested -that info
has not filtered out.
That said,there's no way we can imagine based on our tourism numbers,that this virus isn't here, or
hasn't been here for awhile which is why we fully support the immediate closure of the Big Island to all
visitors for a minimum of 30 days, and a 2 week quarantine for all residents returning to the Big Island.
We are not the only state faced with economic consequences if this decision is made and it's
understandable you don't want to disrupt people's lives and put them out of work, but it's time to make
tough decisions to protect all of us who reside here.
