It is with great urgency and respect that I write to you this morning. I have been told by Dan
Brinkman, our leader at Hilo Medical Center,to prepare for a long andgrueling time as we face
COVID-19.
I implore you to do EVERYTHING we can do to close down businesses, mandate quarantine of
everyone arriving on flights, and mandate measures on our island to keep our community safe.
This is not about the economy.
This is about saving people's lives.
This is about the life of our one single ICU doctor at Hilo Medical Center. About the seven
people I take care of that live in our extended care facility on tracheostomy tubes and
ventilators.
Why are we not taking the precautions that other islands are?
As a healthcare professional, I am humiliated and concerned. We cannot ignore the data.
Let's PLEASE do something about it.
Please let me know how I can support any efforts to reduce community spread
