public."
Good morning Chairman Aaron Chung,Vice Chair Karen Eoff, and members. I Dean Fukuchi,submit my
thoughts and concerns on Governor Ige's supplementary emergency proclamation dated March 16, -
2020, imposition of social distancing measures,to control the spread of COVID-19.
I'm in favor of the Governor social distance measure as means to reduce the spread of COVID-19. I have
seen Japanese and US data that would support the 6 ft social distance as being a proactive measure that
would provide a safety zone for the people to embrace while being in the public and at home.
The County needs to update the hand washing sign posted all over the county building by posting the
new social distant and hand washing message as a means to protect and control the spread of COVID-
19. But most importantly the County must comply with Federal and State mandate of practicing social
distance and get onboard ASAP in order to display a unified front and instill upon the public confidence
that the County is serious and concern about the spread of COVID-19.
We are fortunately that the separation between the islands has given the County of Hawaii some barrier
of protection and delayed the spread of COVID in the county. But unchecked,the County of Hawaii is
not immune, nor prepared to address a major outbreak, and every effort should be taken NOW to nip

the spread of COVID-19 in its infancy stages while it is still manageable based on the limited medical
resources available on island and not wait for the virus to overrun the community and eildangerthe
