Important Testimonial for Emergency Meeting on 3/20/20 Date MAR 2 0 2020
To: Council Testimony
Aloha,
I am a fifth grade teacher at Parker School, and my husband works for the Waste Water Division
for the County of Hawaii. We also are the parents of two boys. I am very concerned that we are
still allowing public gathering places to stay open. We must take action to close all food
establishments, and other gathering places.
My husband and I both work second jobs, my husband at the Four Seasons Resort, and I work
at Pele's Wok Restaurant. Both of us have lost that second source of income. Despite the
economic stress on our family, we think it is essential that we are proactive and stop allowing
people to gather while this social distancing is so important.
We also feel strongly that anyone entering the state of Hawaii be quarantined for 14 days. I
can't tell you how many people I waited on at the restaurant in the past couple of weeks who
were visiting from Seattle. This truly concerned me. Most were families with young kids. No
doubt they were fleeing to keep their families safe, but what about our families? Many other
families were visiting from all over the globe. Some kind of screening and quarantine must be in
place. We MUST stop this before we get to the point of other states and/or countries.
Please strongly consider the importance of us protecting ourselves and our family members.
We deserve that, and so do you!
