RESOLUTION NO. 595 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FOOD BASKET,
INC.,FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO COVID-19 EMERGENCY FOOD
DISTRIBUTION.
WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission
is to end hunger in Hawai`i County with programs that provide food,promote the value of
nutrition, and increase self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., has implemented an emergency food distribution
program in response the COVID-19 pandemic, utilizing its warehouse locations and partnering
with community organizations to help the most vulnerable receive food support and essential
supplies; and
WHEREAS, The Food Basket, Inc., is requesting funds for non-perishable goods, fresh
locally-grown produce and other types of food; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug, smoke, and alcohol-free
programs conducted in healthy and safe environments beneficial to participants and public; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Food Basket, Inc., for expenses related to COVID-19
emergency food distribution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
