RESOLUTION NO. 596 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BOYS AND
GIRLS CLUB OF THE BIG ISLAND FOR A REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES
RELATING TO ITS COMMUNITY MEAL SUPPORT INITIATIVE.
WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island ("BGCBI") is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization that provides after school educational and developmental opportunities for
youth on Hawai`i Island; and
WHEREAS, the extended closure of all Department of Education schools beginning
March 23, 2020, in response to the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019)pandemic has resulted
in a lack of feeding opportunities among vulnerable populations; and
WHEREAS, BGCBI is establishing a community meal support initiative in multiple
districts around Hawai`i Island to assist residents with their nutritional needs; and
WHEREAS, BGCBI is requesting a reimbursement of funds for expenses related to its
community meal support initiative, including equipment, food purchases, and supplies required
for meal preparation, serving, distribution, and cleanup; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide drug-
free and alcohol-free activities for the community; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island for a
reimbursement of expenses related to its community meal support initiative.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.

2
