My name is Ashley Cari.s and I arri writing in regards to Resolution.No. 568-20. I OPPOSE this
resolution as it calls for the reimbursement of county law enforcement unnecessarily utilized for the
benefit of a private corporation project, TMT. The proposed resolution does not have a defined budget
or timeframe of which the State of.Hawaii will. reimburse the county for unnecessary use of law
enforcement. This could cause the county and the state to go into a great deficit.
As a contributing member of the community, I disagree that state monies should be further used for the
interest of foreign entities.
During this unprecedented time of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is not safe for our community members
to witness and participate in the County Council meeting on April 8, 2020. .I urge the Hawai`i County
Council to, at the very least, defer this meeting to a later date when the community will safely be able
to take part in the meeting. As well as, to carefully look at the proposed resolution and question
whether or not this is the best use for state funds. Is this more important than helping our communities
and small businesses rise from the economic downfall that this pandemic has caused?
