I implore all those concerned to reject resolution 568-20 as it currently stands. Not only do I disagree with the intent on
how this reimbursement was used but also the illegal manner in which it was incurred.The police chief must be fired for
exceeding his authority above that of the mayor and the County Council to incur those costs associated with enforcing
perceived public threats by the Mauna Protectors,at the behest of the governor without an approved memorandum of
agreement between the State and the County.
Please consider the fact that ANY"open ended agreements"void of limitations on time and money are not only
damaging to Hawaii's residents, but they also allow an "open door" for misuse and corruption as we move forward.
Limit the reimbursement of$5,342,262.00 to the memorandum of agreement expiration date of 12/31/19.
