RESOLUTION NO. 611 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NORTH HAWAII
HOSPICE, INC., TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES IT REQUIRES TO
OPERATE DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC.
WHEREAS,North Hawai`i Hospice, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that
provides compassionate and professional care at home, supporting people's wishes to approach
the end of life with a greater sense of empowerment, comfort, and peace; and
WHEREAS,North Hawai`i Hospice, Inc., is utilizing technology to perform some of its
services remotely to conform with social distancing guidelines and Governor Ige's "stay at home
or in your place of residence" order, which took effect on March 25, 2020; and
WHEREAS,North Hawai`i Hospice, Inc., continues to provide spiritual counseling and
bereavement support for the community by conducting virtual sessions and/or telephone check-
in calls; and
WHEREAS,North Hawai`i Hospice, Inc., is requesting funds for equipment and
supplies needed to support staff and to help assist the community during the COVID-19
pandemic; and
WHEREAS, the Office of Aging supports organizations that provide services for the
community and those in need of end-of-life care; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to
provide a grant to North Hawai`i Hospice, Inc.,to purchase equipment and supplies it requires to
operate during the COVID-19 pandemic.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the County Executive on Aging and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
