These funds will be used to purchase self-contained battery-powered rescue tools for use by the Hawai`i Fire Department. Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement to accept these funds. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $37,553.62 grant. The Hawai`i Fire Department is requesting that this resolution and bill be waived from Finance Committee and be placed on the May 20, 2020 Council agenda to expedite the receipt of these funds. REQUEST: Please prepare a resolution to accept a grant from the State of Hawai'i, Department of Transportation, and also please appropriate $37,553.62 to the HFD Cordless Extrication Kit account number 010.221.5228.29.480 and to the Cordless Extrication Kit revenue account 3309.53. Being that the grant has been awarded, the Department is requesting that the Finance committee be waived. B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): The Hawai'i Fire Department would like to increase its ability to rapidly extricate patients in the most precarious and technical crash situations. The ability for rescue personnel to utilize the self-contained, battery powered eDraulic line of rescue tools will allow them to move quickly and extricate patients swiftly in the least desirable of situations. Bill No. 166 : AN ORDNANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 19-73,AS AMENDED, THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR THE COUNTY OF HAWAII FOR THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 2020. • Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter,timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review.
