Grant funds in the amount of$3,000 were provided to the Hawaii Island Portuguese Chamber of Commerce Cultural and Education Center(HIPCCCEC) with Contingency Relief funds via Resolution No. 520-20. These funds were intended for the Malasada Shuffle 5K and Family Fun Festa Radiothon that have since been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The department is requesting that the funds be returned to the Legislative Contingency Relief account. The Department of Research&Development requests that a breach be authorized to submit this resolution after the May 1, 2020 submission deadline. The department also • requests that this resolution be waived from Finance Committee and be placed on the May 20, 2020 Council agenda and that the 5-day hold be waived in order to expedite the transfer of these funds. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): Grant funds were intended to be used for a Malasada Shuffle 5K and Family Fun Festa Raiothon that would feature the Portuguese culture through presenations, exhibits, demonstrations and a 5K Malasada Shuffle. Portuguese food, music, dance, and contests was to be shared throughout the day in June 2020 (Reso 520- 20). This activity has been canceled due to a coronavirus pandemic. Therefore, the Department is requesting funds to be transferred back to the Clerk-Council Svc-Contingency Relief account. The department requests that a breach be authorized to submit this resolution after the May 1, 2020 submission deadline.
