RESOLUTION NO. 632 20
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PEOPLES
ADVOCACY FOR TRAILS HAWAI I FOR A
REIMBURSEMENT OF EXPENSES
RELATING TO THE TRAIL CLEARING AT KE ALA KAHAWAI 0 WAIMEA.
WHEREAS, Ke Ala Kahawai 0 Waimea, also known as Waimea Trails and Greenways,
is a long-standing community trail that follows the Waikoloa stream through Waimea town for
1.04 miles; and
WHEREAS, Ke Ala Kahawai 0 Waimea provides the community with a shaded and
level trail for dog-walking,jogging, and bicycling while enjoying the beauty of the Waikoloa
stream; and
WHEREAS,the Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawai`i (PATH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that was established in 1986, with the mission to connect people and places on
Hawai`i Island with pathways and bikeways; and
WHEREAS, working in partnership with community groups, PATH has helped to
coordinate trail clearing at Ke Ala Kahawai 0 Waimea; and
WHEREAS, PATH is requesting a reimbursement of funds for expenses relating to the
removal of dry brush at the trail; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation supports community groups that
work to maintain the beauty of its community through maintenance and improvements, as it falls
within its mission to encourage community service projects; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawai`i (PATH) to
reimburse expenses related to trail clearing at Ke Ala Kahawai 0 Waimea.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
