Dear Finance Committee Chair David, Vice-Chair Richards, and Finance Committee
members.
I ask that you support Resolution 604-20 that will allow PATH to continue operating the
bikeshare systems in Kona and Hilo. This funding will allow the continuation of the free
bikeshare membership throughout 2020 and will help with plans to add bikeshare
stations at Hawaii Community College and UH Hilo.
During the current pandemic, the bikeshare program has become quite valuable in that
it provides free, easily accessible transportation to those who need it for exercise, or to
make a trip for groceries, etc. Any effort encouraging residents to exercise saves
dollars and pressure on our healthcare system.
Please do the right thing and support this Resolution.
